THE STORY

Ukrainian Kozaks were among the most skilled and fearless warriors in Europe between the 15th and 18th centuries. Their legacy is defined by key moments that helped shape the course of European history. At the Battle of Zhovti Vody (1648), Kozak forces secured a victory that helped ignite a successful uprising against the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and regain independence for Ukraine.

The artist grew up in Zhovti Vody, a city of Kozak glory, where history is embedded in the landscape. These early impressions shaped a lasting connection to Kozak identity and its cultural presence.

This series reimagines that spirit through a playful, simplified visual language. Minimal forms and bold characters transform historical identity into something approachable and universal.

Extending beyond the canvas, Kozaks exist as stickers placed in public spaces around the world, allowing fragments of Ukrainian culture to travel, appear, and connect with people in unexpected ways.
